A few more pictures for you...the first three are of Itaipu Binacional. It is a hydroelectric plant that sits on the Parana River on the border between Paraguay and Brazil. This is the source of the majority of Paraguay's electricity. Until the newest dam in China was built, this was the biggest in the world; it is still the highest producing. I found it interesting that everything there was free--the tour, a brochure, the Guarani museum, the zoo. How different from the U.S.!
On our way back from Itaipu, we stopped at the school of Elizabeth, a teacher who participated in a Rotary exchange to our area back in January.

P.S. I have a hit from Mexico...is that Juan?
Jana, your reports are awesome and the trip sounds incredible. Thank you for posting the photos. It is great to see your smile. I'm very glad to see that you met Elizabeth!!! :) Best, NIcole
ReplyDeleteThat dam is huge. I'm glad that you are able to post pictures so everybody gets to see a different part of the world. I'm just happy that I get to see you in the pictures. Have a good day.
ReplyDeleteHey girl,
ReplyDeleteI can see that the trip has proved to be a great decision on your part. You have a glow on your face that tells me that you are really enjoying it. :) I will be leaving to San Antonio on Friday, so I might not be able to check the blog, so don't think that I forgot about you.
P.S. Have you heard anything from Carol and Mateus?
Miss you!
Angie
I'm still working out the details with Carol, but it looks like I will be able to visit them. :) I'll go there around July 18. I'm sure they will have a ton of things they want me to see! I miss everyone at home (Shawn especially...como lo que dijiste sobre Anthony), but I am having a wonderful time here. I know my listening skills have improved greatly! Call me when you get back to Frisco. Espero que Marc y Mercy salgan bien en sus clases!
